“Crown” — a Trendy French Braid Style

If you already know how to braid, you’ve probably wondered how to style a braid in a more creative way. Here’s one of the options.

What you’ll need:

  • a brush,
  • a fine-tip comb,
  • a spray bottle,
  • 2 thin hair elastics,
  • hairspray (optional)

Braiding time: 5–8 minutes

Difficulty level: medium

  1. Brush your hair and make sure there are no tangles — the strands should lie smoothly.
  2. Section off hair in the center (moving from the crown in a circle) and secure it with an elastic (the thinner the elastic, the neater the result). This is section A.
  3. You should now have a “halo” of hair around the perimeter about 5 cm wide — this is section B.
  4. Gather hair from section A into a ponytail and let it fall freely. If a few strands fall onto the face, leave them be.
  5. Take some strands near the left ear from section B and start braiding a French braid. As you cross the hair over, add strands from section A. For the lower side of the braid, add strands from section B. Make sure the braid lies right along the border between the sections — it will help visually hide the braid.
  6. Continue braiding along the head, just like in step 5, until you reach the starting point.
  7. Braid the remaining hair into a regular braid and secure with an elastic.
  8. Tuck the end of the braid into the crown and hide it inside. Make sure it holds firmly. If done correctly, the hairstyle will appear to have no beginning or end.
  9. Use bobby pins to secure the end of the French braid.
