Interview with the President of the Public Union “The Association of Beauty Championship” — organizer of the Ukrainian National Championship in Hairdressing, Nail Aesthetics and Makeup

Ms. Valentina, please tell us more about the Ukrainian Championship in Hairdressing, Nail Art, and Makeup — an event already considered one of the most prestigious in the beauty industry. What is its significance for the professional community, and what is the goal of this project?

The Ukrainian Championship of Hairdressing, Nail Artistry, and Makeup is a national event that is of great importance for the development of professional standards and the identification of the best masters in the field of beauty.

The goal of the competition, in accordance with the statutory objectives of the Association of beauty championship, is to support talented professionals, highlight the expertise and qualifications of the best of the best in the industry, and integrate Ukraine into the international beauty community. This allows Ukrainian specialists to demonstrate their level alongside leading European and international schools. That is why the Ukrainian Championship in Hairdressing, Nail Art, and Makeup is a national-level image-building event that demonstrates Ukraine's potential in the field of hairdressing, nail design, makeup, permanent makeup, and artistic image.

How often is this prestigious national competition held, and how large is its geographical scope? Do representatives from other countries participate in it, given that the event already has international recognition?

The Ukrainian Championship in Hairdressing, Nail Art, and Makeup is held once a year, and its scale grows every year. The championship brings together the most talented masters from all regions of the country. At the same time, the competition has international status — it traditionally attracts participants from European countries, including Poland, the Czech Republic, Lithuania, Bulgaria, and Hungary. Such meetings promote cultural exchange and the integration of Ukrainian masters into the global beauty community.

The competition takes place at the most prestigious locations in the country — in 2018 and 2019, the Championship was held at the Olympic National Sports Complex in Kyiv, where thousands of guests, experts, and journalists attended the event.

According to official data from the Ukrainian Book of Records, in 2019, the Ukrainian Championship in Hairdressing, Nail Art, and Makeup attracted over 2,000 participants, confirming its status as the largest professional beauty contest in Ukraine.

The reputation of the organizer often determines the prestige of the event itself. How would you describe the reputation of the Public Union “The Association of beauty championship” and its approach to holding such a prestigious event?

The Public Union “The Association of beauty championship” works responsibly and systematically. We set high organizational standards and adhere to transparency, objectivity, and honesty at all stages of the competition.

The Championship is judged by a large team of authoritative experts. In 2019, for example, the jury consisted of more than 40 certified specialists, including 14 international judges. This representation ensures international impartiality and professionalism in evaluation, as well as confirming the high level of trust in the Ukrainian Championship.

It is extremely important for the Public Union “The Association of beauty championship” to maintain the reputation of a national competition that meets European standards. It is thanks to a serious approach to preparation, a transparent evaluation system, and the work of an expert jury that our Championship enjoys stable international trust.

Participants know that winning the Ukrainian Championship in hairdressing, nail aesthetics, and makeup is true professional recognition that opens the way to an international career.

Who can participate in such a prestigious competition, what are the requirements for candidates, and how many awards do the winners receive each year?

The championship is open to all representatives of the beauty industry — practicing masters, teachers, and students of specialized educational institutions. We accept applications for participation in the competition in five main areas: hairdressing, nail aesthetics, makeup, permanent makeup, and eyelash extensions.

Applications can be submitted through the official channels of the Association or its partners, in particular Estet, which has been supporting the event since its inception.

Every year, more than seventy awards and diplomas are presented at the Championship, including cups, certificates, and honorary awards in various categories. For example, in 2018, more than 50 sets of awards were presented, and in 2019, more than 70, which confirms the scale of the competition and the recognition of a large number of talented Ukrainian masters.

Participation and victory in our Championship is a high professional assessment and proof that the master belongs to the elite of the Ukrainian beauty community.

What criteria do the judges use to determine the winners, and how are the participants' works evaluated?

The evaluation of competition entries is carried out exclusively according to an international protocol system. All decisions are made by relevant experts — certified judges with many years of experience in the field of hairdressing, nail aesthetics, and makeup.

The evaluation criteria are based on three main components:

• technical skill and precision of execution;
• artistic vision and creativity;
• compliance with current trends in the beauty industry.

Evaluation is conducted using a scoring system, and the results are recorded in the jury protocol. The purpose of the judging is to determine the winners and confirm the high level of professionalism of Ukrainian masters, as each of them demonstrates true artistry and dedication to their craft.
